Alyssa DeRichie jr/ guard/ Horseheads

"Put DeRichie on just about any other team in the area, and she would clearly be that teams best player. At Horseheads DeRichie's exceptional play is sometimes blurred by a tremendous supporting cast of fellow starters.

But as anyone familiar with Section IV basketball can attest-DeRichie is the real deal. A STAC all-conference selection and 2009 and 2010, Stars & Stripes all-star 2009 and 2010, 2009 MVP Stars & Stripes, DeRichie averaged 12.8 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists per game. DeRichie was instrumental in helping the Blue Raiders win their third straight STAC West titile.

Few are as effective to the basket and creating as DeRichie, who plays bigger than her 5'8" frame. DeRichie can mix it up in the interior and rebound, while also draining a long to mid range jump shot. She posed a lot of mismatch problems because we play her at the guard position, Horseheads head coach Andy Scott said. She's obviously tough, but she can take the girl's down low. She's definitely one of the premier players. When you let her go, she can go. But our system is a lot of continuity stuff and she goes out there and she's still the leading scorer, even though she's drawing the opponets best defender every night."

 Myranda Hogan sr/forward/Corning West

With prototypical size for an interior player, Hogan proved to be an outside threat as junior, knocking down 20 3-pointers. As a senior, West head coach Bill Pierce wanted to better utillize Hogan's inside skills. Hogan's double-double numbers certainly reflected positively on Pierce's decision/

Hogan averged 11.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game and was STAC West all-conference selection. her numbers probably could have been significantly better had it not been  for the fact she played her final three games with a stress fracture in her lower right leg.

Hogan gave the Vikings a dependable presence down low at both ends of the floor. On offense, she regularly shook off double teams to score., while making things very difficult for the opposition at the defensive end. In a game against Elmira Southside, Hogan erupted for 30 points and grabbed 18 rebounds.
