Sun-Gazette All-Star Team Alex Marple, Wellsboro: The junior point guard carried her team at times and has developed into one of the best district players few outside the Northern Tier know about. A three-year starter approaching 1,000 career points, Marple does a little bit of everything, averaging 16.7 points, close to five assists, four rebounds and three steals per game despite being the focal point of nearly every defense. Effective inside and outside, Marple showed how dangerous she is in a midseason win over District 4 Class AA finalist Towanda when she scored 26 points and paved the way for a 69-63 win. Alicia Ross, Williamsport: Making up for lost time after a broken wrist ended a promising sophomore campaign, Ross developed into a stellar all-around threat who helped ignite Williamsport on both ends. Averaging 15 points per game, Ross could hurt defenses from outside or inside. Just as important, she was excellent at setting up teammates for good shots and developed into a good defender who could spark a dangerous transition game by making several steals per game. Ross was at her best in a midseason win over Communications Tech, scoring a career-high 29 points on 10-of-16 shooting while dealing seven assists and adding six steals as Williamsport won, 81-46. Jenny Meslener, Lewisburg: One of the best to ever wear a Lewisburg uniform, Meslener put together a fantastic capper to a standout scholastic career. The senior forward averaged 15.9 points and 12.2 rebounds per game while becoming just the program's third player to top 1,000 career points. Tough and hard-working, Meslener helped Lewisburg win 18 games and in the last three years, led it to six playoff wins. Meslener was outstanding in two playoff games this season, recording two double-doubles and scoring a career-high 30 points in a first-round win over Warrior Run. In her last game, Meslener nearly led an injury-riddled team all the way back from a 13-point deficit against Towanda, scoring a game-high 23 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. Rachel Fatherly, Williamsport: The gifted sophomore forward is starting to do for Williamsport what Meslener has done for Lewisburg. Playing varsity for the first time, Fatherly became a dominant presence and was unstoppable at times when she had the ball down low. Fatherly averaged a double-double and was among the area's top five scorers at 16 points per game. Fatherly's play helped the Millionaires make a five-win improvement and was instrumental in them going 14-10 and reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2006. Fatherly provided a glimpse to come in her first varsity game, scoring 17 points and grabbing nine rebounds in a 49-36 win over Donegal. Keely Henninger, Loyalsock: Henninger was the driving force behind Loyalsock's district championship push. A three-time first team all-star, Henninger returned from a shoulder injury that cost her the first six games and averaged 16 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.1 steals per game. The Lancers went 2-4 without Henninger, but were 19-3 after her return, a tribute as much to her leadership as her talent. As her shoulder healed, Henninger became more dangerous and she was dominant in the postseason, recording four straight double-doubles in districts while topping 20 points three times. The four-year starter scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the district championship as Loyalsock thumped Towanda.
